How Does an Air Conditioner Work?
Air conditioners have increasingly become a part of our lives, but still many of us are not aware about its working. Here, we will try to explain the working of an AC in an easy way so that you can understand it and explain to anyone if need be.
First of all let us understand basic principle of cooling. Grade 5 science says cooling is caused due to evaporation. Just like sweat produced in our body evaporates to producing cooling effect. AC works on the same principle of evaporation! It is also called vapour compression refrigeration cycle.
Refrigerant flows in the coils and this process is aided by the compressor. Refrigerant is sent to condenser (outside unit) for loosing heat. This process is aided with the help of a fan that blows hot air onto the condenser. After this, refrigerant is cooled further, it flows into the indoor unit and a fan blows from inside towards the coils. This cool air then flows into the room. And the refrigerant goes back to the condenser and the process is repeated.
